Take a Breath, Take a Deep Breath Now

Doctor Who
returns to our screens on August 23rd with the debut adventure of the 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, in the “feature length” adventure Deep Breath. What does “feature length” actually mean in terms of running time? We are not quite sure in this instance - the 75 minute Day of the Doctor was also promoted by the BBC as being “feature length” - it is likely that the episode will be longer than 60 minutes but unlikely to be longer than 90. Although a double-length episode might help to explain why (or reassure) Capaldi’s first season is said to be only 12 episodes long (not counting the Christmas special that will follow in December) - a 90 minute debut episode would effectively mean that the season will be just as long as previous seasons, with two episodes combined into one. But time will tell. And very soon…....

I hope he’s only one for one season (series). He is one creepy looking Doctor. I think the only reason they cast him was because it’s only for one year. Then a big shake up with the new head writer and they will pick their new doctor and new companion. We’ll see I guess. I’ll give this guy a few shows but I didn’t think he was all that good in the few doctor who shows he was in as an “extra” in. He might be a big actor in the UK but we haven’t seen much if any of him here in the USA.

And just how much did you see of David Tenant, Chris Eccleston, Matt Smith etc. in North America before they appeared in Doctor Who? Give this guy a chance. I too don’t initially warm up to him but to write him off given his track record in Britain (and it is a British show, remember?) is very unfair.

If you remember in my first post I said that I’d give him a few shows to see how he is. Which I will do. You never know what kind of Doctor he will be. So… Yes I will give him a chance to see if I’ll like him or not. Sheesh.

Sorry Michael. I misunderstood your earlier post. It sounded to me as if you had already written him off.

No Problem. The post did have a negative tone so I understand. Cheers.
