Hail to the Dalek!
In honour of the might, history and lore of the Dalek Empire I’ve surrendered the Blog Banner to them. Welcome back!
I was a bit worried about how the New Series would handle the return of the Daleks and (re-)introduce The Evil Pepper Pots to a world where Battlestar Galacticas and Episode III’s run wild. You can quote Jubilee, argue Genesis, and slag Rememberance all you want, in the end DALEK stands on it’s own two feet (if it had any), and fulfills the apprehensive “introduction mandate”. From here the series can go any way it wants with the Daleks, and I look forward to being along for the ride. Nice work Rob, RTD, BBC et al.

I really hope we will see the Daleks again. Having been scared witless by the Daleks when they first appeared, the latest Dalek looks so formidable and practically invincible.

Dalek was certainly impressive, both on a purely technical level as well as the story - which ws pretty short (with all the commercial breaks). But maybe its just me, but I am actually getting kinda tired of Rose. I like her, she has guts and is awed by what she sees, yet still has her feet on the ground about it all, but I feel that they are over-emphasizing her at the expense of the Doctor. If the program had the old 4-6 episode format the emphasis on her would have been balanced out with other aspects of plot and characher development, but when an entire story is presented in less than an hour the over-emphasis shows more. The companion should not get more attention than the good Doctor.

Only seeing the 9th season, I found the episode
“Dalek” quite interesting.For an example,I learned
that the Daleks were enemy in the time war.When the Dalek first attemts to attack The Doctor,he starts banging the door, screaming “let me out”!
But when he finds out the Dalek has no power, he
puts a large grin on his face and shouts
“fantastic”!The Doctor showing so much fear at
first is just sickening.Rose’s reaction to the
Dalek leaves The Doctor outraged.When the Dalek
does escape,the doctor doesn’t have much to work
with.For example,Henry Van Statten doesn’t give a darn if everybody ends up dead. He just cares how much money he’ll get for it.Also, the gaurds’ ignorance of the doctor’s directions also results in thier poor achivement.Another thing I learned
from “Dalek” is the amount of damage the Dalek can do.At the end of the episode, I asked myself,
will the Dalek return?And If so,how many?I was soon to find out.
