Grade Waters

It is difficult to think which story is more unlikely - Michael Grade suggesting he may have made a mistake in attempting cancel the show in 1985 or Roger Waters re-joining Pink Floyd for the first time in just over 20 years?

Quite amazingly, both happened today, as it was announced that Pink Floyd (famous Doctor Who fans who have made several references to Doctor Who in music and concerts over the years) re-unites with Roger Waters for the Live 8 Concert in London on June 2nd, while this report from the BBC indicates that Grade admits to learning from his mistake of trying to cancel the series twenty years ago.

We live in a world of wonders!

Great post, Luca. By the way, I am going to venture a little off topic and ask you to be self promoting. I finally was able to listen to some of the Doctor Who documentary on CBC’s website. I assume there was video to go with it, but the screen remained blank for me and I only heard the audio. Argh, computers! I know that you and some of your fellow Canadian fans were interviewed for it, but, having met you only once twelve years ago, and spoken to you on the phone four years ago, AND while I THINK I know which voice was yours, I wanted to be sure. If you are the one who likened Doctor Who to a science fiction Sherlock Holmes then I’m happy to hear it, and if not, I have egg on my face and want to know, which comments did you make? I hope it’s not inappropriate to bring this up in the blog…

David, you are living in the past. smile Unless there is more than one bit about Sherlock Holmes that was SF author Robert J. Sawyer you were listening to in episode three. However Luca can be heard during the group discussion.

Yeah, I didn’t recall saying anything about Sherlock Holmes, but I honestly can’t remember, and in order to remind myself I’d have to watch Planet of the Doctor again, and despite my presence in their, I’m not sure if that something I’m up to doing just at the moment. smile
